IBM said in a statement to CNBC that it is cutting "a low single-digit percentage of our global workforce" during the fourth quarter.
IBM employed 270,000 at the end of 2024, meaning a 1% cut would amount to roughly 2,700 jobs.
The statement indicated that U.S. employment is expected to stay flat year over year.
