Hyatt Hotels Corp. is in discussions to buy Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc., people familiar with the matter told the Wall Street Journal.
But Hyatt isn't alone.
At least three Chinese companies, including lodging giant Shanghai Jin Jiang International Hotels, are interested in Starwood, which owns Westin, W Hotels and other hotel brands.
Starwood's shares have grown 16 percent this week, boosting the company's market capitalization to about $13.6 billion.
