A Wahlburgers eatery inside Springfield's east-side Hy-Vee store is slated to be replaced by the grocer's own restaurant concept.
Tina Potthoff, senior vice president of communications for West Des Moines, Iowa-based Hy-Vee Inc., said Feb. 18 is scheduled as the last day for the Wahlburgers restaurant at the 2150 E. Sunshine St. store. A Hy-Vee Market Grille is taking its place, Potthoff said.
The Wahlburgers restaurant has been in place since Hy-Vee opened the East Sunshine store in February 2022.
Hy-Vee announced in a Jan. 20 news release that all of its in-store restaurants in the Midwest would transition to the Market Grille concept in February.
"After the transition, Hy-Vee will have a total of 221 Market Grille and Market Grille Express locations across the Midwest," officials said in the release.
The release also pointed to a new Market Grille menu that focuses on breakfast and burgers, with new lunch and dinner options in the works.
At Hy-Vee's 2011-opened 1720 W. Battlefield Road store, an existing Market Grille restaurant will roll out the new menu next month, said Potthoff.
