This story was published in a January edition of Today In Business. We apologize for any confusion caused by running it again today. Virginia Fry, a partner in Husch Blackwell’s Springfield office, said this morning there were no support staff reductions in Springfield.Kansas City-based law firm Husch Blackwell LLP has laid off 3.5 percent of its legal support staff, according to the Kansas City Business Journal.
Husch Blackwell eliminated 25 positions throughout the firm, and the journal reports no attorneys were laid off. While a spokeswoman could not confirm the number of job cuts in the Kansas City office, the journal was familiar with at least one job in the marketing office.
The St. Louis Business Journal
reported a handful of cuts in Husch’s St. Louis office, which is among 16 U.S. cities where the law firm operates. While also maintaining an international office in London, the firm employs more than 600 lawyers and 750 support staff, the business journal said.
Husch Chairman Maurice Watson released this statement: "Our firm, like many of our clients, is being challenged to do more with less. Consistent with our commitment to deliver high value service to our clients, we continuously assess our costs with a focus on improving efficiency and quality."
