Talks of a merger had been ongoing for several months. Now, officials expect to close the deal in late January, according to a company news release. A new name for the firm will be chosen in coming weeks.
Both Blackwell and Husch have Springfield offices. On the most recent Am Law 200 list, Blackwell ranked No. 179 based on gross revenue, and Husch ranked No. 175. As of Nov. 30, Blackwell had 330 attorneys, and Husch had 300.
“This is a true merger of equals,” said Joseph P. Conran, co-chairman of the new firm and former Husch chairman, in a news release. “Both firms contribute extraordinary legacies of legal excellence, client service and community leadership. Additionally, in those cities where Husch and Blackwell have historically operated, we immediately complement and improve our competitive position.”
Officials anticipate the merged firm to top $275 million in revenue in 2008, according to the release.
Conran and David A. Fenley, former Blackwell chairman, lead the new firm as co-chairmen. The merged firm also has a six-member executive board.
The firm’s practice areas are grouped under two major divisions: business services, and litigation and dispute resolution. [[In-content Ad]]
