Officials expect to close the deal in late January, according to a company news release. A new name for the firm will be chosen in coming weeks.
Both Blackwell and Husch have Springfield offices. As of Nov. 30, Blackwell had 330 attorneys, and Husch had 300.
“This is a true merger of equals,” said Joseph P. Conran, co-chairman of the new firm and former Husch chairman, in a news release. “In those cities where Husch and Blackwell have historically operated, we immediately complement and improve our competitive position.”
Officials anticipate the merged firm to top $275 million in revenue in 2008, according to the release.
Conran and David A. Fenley, former Blackwell chairman, lead the new firm as co-chairmen. The merged firm also has a six-member executive board.
