Hundreds of Chicago O'Hare workers go on strike

Posted online

Hundreds of workers today are striking at Chicago O'Hare International Airport.

The strike by janitors, baggage handlers, cabin cleaners and wheelchair attendants is over wages.

They are seeking $15 an hour. Some currently make $10.50 an hour, which is the minimum wage in Chicago.

The strike is part of a broader effort called Day of Disruption planned by activist group Fight for $15. Uber drivers, fast food workers and home care aides also plan to strike today in an effort to get their pay boosted to $15 an hour.
