Huge mixed-use BluHawk prepares for takeoff in KC area

BluHawk, the Kansas City area's largest mixed-use development, is finally advancing in south Overland Park.

With plans dating back to 2007, the development would span 300 acres. The recession put the project on hold.

According to the Kansas City Business Journal, work is now slated to begin soon on part of the 1 million square feet of retail space. The first retail project is a neighborhood center anchored by a roughly 50,000-square-foot Cosentino's Market in the northwest corner of the development, and another 40,000 square feet of retail space.
