Huawei criticizes Trump's national emergency

After President Donald Trump issued a national emergency to ban technology from “foreign adversaries," China's Huawei criticized the action.

“If the U.S. restricts Huawei, it will not make the U.S. safer, nor will it make the U.S. stronger. It will only force the U.S. to use inferior and expensive alternative equipment, lagging behind other countries ... and ultimately harming U.S. companies and consumers," Huawei officials said in a statement.

Trump's order did not name specific countries or companies. However, it came after months of U.S. pressure on telecommunications giant Huawei.
