Howsmon's Office Interiors introduced Springfield architects and interior designers to the company's newest offerings at an event held July 22 at Springfield Brewing Company, according to John Howsmon, Howsmon's chief executive officer.
"The event was designed to introduce the Steelcase line to local architects, designers and customers," Howsmon said. "Steelcase is the largest manufacturer of products for the office environment in the world." The line is offered through Howsmon's Joplin and Springfield stores.
The products include the Turnstone line of basic desks, chairs and files and the comprehensive Pathways line, Howsmon said. "Pathways is a complete office interior solution," he said. "Technology is incorporated into the furniture system."
Howsmon said Steelcase also offers remanufactured office furniture through its Revest company. "Revest produces remanufactured furniture that can be sold at a lower price point," he said.
Also showcased at the event was the new Leap Chair, an innovation that Howsmon said will "revolutionize seating from a comfort point of view." The chair, which carries 23 design patents, provides back support that is as unique as the person who uses it.
"The Leap Chair provides a solution that will cover the majority of body sizes and types," Howsmon said. "It has a 'live back' that supports each person's spine differently." The chair also offers individual upper and lower back support.
The event drew about 100 architects, designers and customers, Howsmon said. "Architecture and interior design firms influence design choices of their clients," he said. "It was an opportunity to educate them on what's available through Steelcase and Howsmon's."
