How much are the Cardinals worth?

The answer: $820 million.

Drawing 3.3 million fans to Busch Stadium last year – the second most in Major League Baseball – the St. Louis Cardinals rank as the eighth most valuable team in the MLB, based on rankings by Forbes magazine.

According to the St. Louis Business Journal, the team had revenue of $283 million last year and operating income of $65.2 million.

The New York Yankees once again topped the list with an estimated value of $2.5 billion. Cardinals' rival the Chicago Cubs took the fourth spot with an estimated value of $1.2 billion. The Kansas City Royals edged their way into the list at No. 29 with an estimated value of $490 million.

The St. Louis Business Journal reports the average team is now worth $811 million, up 9 percent from last year.
