Posted online
The Springfield area is home to one of the six area offices in Missouri where government entities and nonprofit corporations can submit applications for grants through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development program. According to a news release, Rural Development will accept pre-applications until June 18 from eligible entities.

In Springfield, the area office where additional information is available and applications may be obtained or submitted is at 688 S. State Highway B, Ste. 400. Other cities in which USDA Rural Development has area offices are St. Joseph, Kirksville, Clinton, Farmington and Dexter.

USDA Rural Development issues Housing Preservation Grant funds to state and local governments or nonprofit organizations to be used to repair or rehabilitate individual homes, rental properties or co-ops owned and/or occupied by very-low and low-income rural residents. Grantees are to provide eligible homeowners, owners of rental properties and owners of cooperatives with financial assistance through loans, grants, interest-reduction payments or other comparable financial assistance for necessary repairs and rehabilitation.

Last year Rural Development provided funds totaling $293,620 to four Missouri entities, which provided assistance to 50 households. The recipients, and the amounts they received, were: Green Hills Community Action Agency, $33,018,15; East Missouri Action Agency, $121,810; West Central Community Action Agency, $84,903 and $50,000 in disaster funds; and North East Community Action Corp., $3,888.[[In-content Ad]]
