The Republican-controlled House Budget Committee in Jefferson City voted down a $1.6 billion, first-year spending plan for Medicaid expansion in Missouri.
Roughly $133 million in state funding is slated for the expansion, with the remainder coming from federal funds.
Medicaid expansion in the state was approved by voters during the August election last year. If funding is blocked, it could set up legal battles.
