Rep. Lincoln Hough, R-Springfield, will seek an associate seat being vacated on the Greene County Commission.
Hough announced yesterday he would run for the 2nd District seat currently held by Roseann Bentley, who is retiring next year after holding the job since 2004, according to a news release.
In his October quarterly report to the Missouri Ethics Commission, Hough reported nearly $170,000 on hand.
Elected in 2010, the three-term representative said holding the Greene County Commission job would give him the opportunity to work directly with area residents, as well as spend more time with his family.
“We have a lot of opportunities and a lot of challenges facing Greene County in the next few years,” Hough said in the release. “I believe my experience in the House of Representatives will help me work with the other commissioners in figuring out how to best face each situation.”
The run would mark Hough’s second attempt at grabbing a Greene County Commission seat. In 2008, Bentley beat him in the primary election with 57 percent of the votes.
In the House, Hough represents District 135, which covers a large chunk of eastern Springfield.
He serves on several committees, including as chairman of the revenue, transportation and economic development appropriations committee; joint committee on real property tax increment allocation redevelopment; transportation, budget and pensions committees; and the joint committee on solid waste management district operations, according to House.Mo.gov.
Outside political office, Hough owns a few hundred head of cattle and more than 315 acres of farmland in Greene County.
The commission primary is in August, followed by the general election in November.
