Hot Springs, Ark., condemns Majestic Hotel

Posted online
Weeks after a destructive fire, the Majestic Hotel Resort and Spa in Hot Springs, Ark., was condemned by city leaders and will be fully demolished.

The complex had been partially razed following a Feb. 27-28 fire, according to ArkansasOnline.com.

Authorities say they don't know for sure what caused the fire at the abandoned hotel, but the fire chief says the blaze may have been started by a homeless person or "urban explorer."

According to the Associated Press, the complex closed in 2006 after operating for 124 years. In recent years, the property had changed hands between a few developers, but no redevelopment plan ever got off the ground.
