Hostess makes first acquisition under new ownership

Hostess Brands LLC has acquired Superior Cake Products for an undisclosed amount.

The purchase marks the first acquisition by Hostess since it came under new ownership in 2013 and moved its headquarters back to Kansas City.

An in-store bakery company from Massachusetts, Superior Cake Products sells under the brand name Superior on Main.

In 2013, C. Dean Metropolous & Co. and Apollo Global Management bought Hostess for $410 million. The company has since become a billion-dollar brand.
