Project description: Carthage-based Hometown Bank is adding its seventh location and second Joplin branch. The full-service facility is being built to capture the business of health care workers from Freeman Health System and St. John’s Regional Medical Center, according to President Lonnie Heckmaster. The new branch, designed by Springfield firm Slone Architects Inc., is less than a mile from the two hospitals. Hometown Bank was formed in 1998, the same year it opened its original Joplin location, which is about two miles east of the current project. Heckmaster said Hometown Bank has $240 million in assets and employs 93.
