Home Depot mostly falls short of forecasts

Except for one key metric, Home Depot delivered quarterly results that fell below analysts' expectations.

Earnings during the quarter came to $2.08 per share, which was 3 cents higher than analysts were looking for.

However, revenue of $24.95 billion was lower than the $25.15 billion forecast. Same-store sales grew by 4.2 percent, less than the 5.4 percent expected.
