Hollywood writers reach deal with studios

The Writers Guild of America and Hollywood studios reached a deal to avoid a strike.

The parties reached a three-year agreement after negotiating past the midnight deadline.

Guild negotiators cited increased studio contributions to their health plan, as well as a new definition for short-order TV series that will earn writers more pay for episodes that take longer than 2.4 weeks to produce.
