A $5.5 million construction project is slated to bring the city of Hollister’s Police and Public Works departments together in shared space.
City Administrator Rick Ziegenfuss said the 9,490-square-foot building is being built on a nearly 5-acre parcel that’s about a block away from the U.S. Highway 65 and Industrial Park Drive interchange. A separate, 11,915-square-foot building also is being constructed on the site for use by the city’s maintenance crews, he said.
Ziegenfuss said the project has been a longtime coming after years of planning and saving up. He said Central Bank of Branson is financing the project after a bidding process.
“Small communities have small budgets. So, for a long time you make do with what you can,” he said. “It’s always very positive when they get to bring themselves up to a current facility.”
The project’s general contractor is Snyder Construction Group LLC, and the architect is Treat Architects PC.
Brandi Bailey, vice president of strategic development at Snyder Construction Group, said features of the Police and Public Works building include conference rooms, training spaces, two cells, an evidence room and locker rooms. Ziegenfuss also said there’s room for future expansion of the building.
The Hollister Police Department is relocating from 1 Gage Drive, Ziegenfuss said, noting the current station was not designed as a law enforcement headquarters. He said it lacks training space and certain security measures. Public Works is relocating from space in the M. Graham Clark Downtown Airport.
