Highway Safety Division names director

Leanna Depue was named director of the Highway Safety Division in the Missouri Department of Transportation.

Depue took over Sept. 26. She previously served as director of the Missouri Safety Center at Central Missouri State University.

Her duties include overseeing the division in its efforts to reduce highway deaths, injuries and property damage. The division targets traffic safety through behavioral programs for speeding, distracted driving and high-risk drivers.

Depue also serves as chair of the executive committee for the Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety, which outlines strategies to reduce fatal and serious injuries on Missouri roads.

Depue has a doctorate and a master’s degree in health education-safety from Southern Illinois University, where she also earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education.
