Duane Michie, of Hayti, previously vice chairman, begins today as the new chairman. Michie is board chairman for First State Bank & Trust Co. Inc. and president and board chairman of First State Bancorp Inc. of Caruthersville.
Both Anderson and Michie will serve one-year terms, and both joined the commission in 2001.
The six-member bipartisan commission governs the Missouri Department of Transportation, which has about 6,300 employees and an annual budget of more than $2 billion.
“Things have really turned around at MoDOT,” Michie said in a news release. “The department has made great strides to be more transparent and accountable to the citizens it serves. My goal is to keep operations moving in a positive direction and make sure we continue to deliver projects on time and within budget.”
Other commission members are Bill McKenna, Crystal City; Mike Kehoe, Jefferson City; David Gach, St. Joseph; and Rudy Farber, Neosho.
