The Springfield Flu Immunization Coalition is distributing flu vouchers Oct. 19-23 for flu shots that will be administered at several clinic sites Oct. 26-30.
The vouchers are available for adults who are at high risk of developing complications from the flu. High-risk people are those who are 65 years or older or who have chronic health conditions; women who will be pregnant during flu season; and those who will be in close contact with the sick or people in nursing homes, according to a news release.
The vaccinations available will protect against seasonal flu, but not against the H1N1 virus, the release said.
Flu vouchers will be available for pickup 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Oct. 19-23 at three locations: Southwest Missouri Office on Aging, 1735 S. Fort Ave.; Jordan Valley Community Health Center; 440 E. Tampa St.; and Northview Senior Center, 301 E. Talmage St.
The clinic sites, which will be open 7 a.m.-noon, are:
Ozarks Community Hospital, 2828 N. National Ave., Oct. 26;
St. John's C.H. "Chub" O'Reilly Cancer Center, 2055. S. Fremont, second floor, Oct. 27;
