Hershey hikes candy prices 8 percent

Posted online
The Hershey Co. is increasing wholesale prices across the majority of its U.S., Puerto Rico and export portfolios.

The company is instituting a weighted average price increase of roughly 8 percent to offset increases in input costs such as raw materials, packaging, fuel, utilies and transportation, according to the Central Penn Business Journal.

Direct-buying customers will be able to purchase transitional amounts of product at pre-raise prices through Aug. 12. The company does not expect seasonal net price realization until Halloween 2015.
