Heroes Coffee to open at SGF

Posted online
A licensed location of Springfield-based Heroes Coffee Co. is set to open within Springfield-Branson National Airport by late January or early February.

Heroes Coffee co-owner Tim Ferguson said licensees Dustin and Katie Jackson plan to open the full-service espresso bar directly inside the secure area of the airport. The kiosk represents the company's first location inside an airport, though Ferguson said the company operates four similar kiosk-style locations inside grocery stores.

In addition to the company's signature drinks, Ferguson said the airport kiosk would sell items from four other Springfield businesses: Askinosie Chocolate; Andy's Frozen Custard Inc., custard bars; Brown Egg, pastries; and Springfield Brewing Co., root beer.

Ferguson said Heroes has been working to open a shop inside SGF for three years, and was selected after submitting a bid of its potential offerings.

Within the airport, Ferguson said Heroes would compete with McAlister's Deli, which serves Gevalia coffee.

Ferguson declined to disclose costs associated with the shop opening.
