Here’s how much marijuana businesses pay in taxes

While marijuana is illegal under federal law, cannabis companies are not exempt from income taxes.

During 2017, marijuana companies paid an estimated $4.7 billion in taxes on nearly $13 billion in revenue.

Most of the businesses are unbanked, meaning the owners paid much of that money in cash to the IRS.
