Here are the richest and poorest small towns in Mo., Kan.

Des Peres is the richest small town in Missouri, according to research of the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey by Delaware-based financial news company 24/7 Wall St. LLC.
 
The data is based on the estimated median annual household incomes of cities with less than 25,000 residents from 2010 to 2014. The St. Louis County city’s median income of $116,173 is more than twice that of the state average - $48,363.
 
Households across state lines in Basehor, Kan., enjoy a median income of $87,381, compared to the state average of $52,504.
 
The study also ranked the poorest towns in each of the 50 states based on income and poverty rate. Pine Lawn and Pittsburg ranked poorest in Missouri and Kansas, respectively.
