A 143,000-square-foot, city-funded, $5.9 million parking deck is taking shape in downtown Springfield. General contractor Carson-Mitchell Inc. began construction of Heer’s Car Park on April 17. Esterly Schneider & Associates Inc. is the architect for the five-story structure. Engineers are Anderson Engineering Inc., civil; Bob D. Campbell & Co. Inc., structural; and Malone Finkle Eckhardt & Collins Inc., mechanical and electrical. Walker Parking Consultants also consulted on the project, which will provide 375 parking spaces. The city is using several sources, including level property tax funds, V-cent transportation sales tax and special obligation bonds, to fund Heer’s Car Park. Completion is slated for March.
