The Heer's Building will have complete exterior and interior renovations. Exterior renovations include removal of the building's 1967 orange glass skin, which already has been completed. The seven-story building will have energy-efficient window replacements and work will be done on the terra cotta facade. The interior will be renovated to house office and retail spaces. Open-glass retail spaces are planned at street level. The openness of the main and mezzanine levels will be accentuated, and all interior spaces will be renovated with new wall and floor finishes, ceiling restoration and lighting. Elevator and escalator upgrades also are included for the project. Melissa Higbie and Craig A. Schneider are the project architects.
