The Ozarks Health Advocacy Foundation on July 17 presented $54,482 in grants to 11 local nonprofits, according to a news release.
The grants were awarded to:
- Boys & Girls Town of Missouri, $4,234 to purchase materials and supplies for a pilot program created to treat children with emotional and behavioral problems;
- Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, $1,848 to provide education and curriculum resources for its parent education program for child psychiatry;
- Community Partnership of the Ozarks, $2,500 to purchase preventative health care items for area homeless;
- Council of Churches of the Ozarks: Project Self-Esteem, $2,500 to purchase beds for foster-care children;
- CoxHealth Foundation, $5,170 to purchase 63 cribs for the Safe Cribs Project of Springfield;
- Developmental Center of the Ozarks, $2,700 for 10 baby cribs and two evacuation baby cribs for early child care and education programs;
- Foundation for Springfield Public Schools, $4,040 to purchase 202 flu vaccine doses for students;
- Isabel's House, $15,000 to pay direct-care staff wages;
- Jordan Valley Community Health Center, $6,200 to purchase dental equipment and lighting for the Trudi’s Kids mobile dental unit;
- Ozarks Area Community Action Corp., $4,290 to purchase assessment kits, screening forms, and shipping and handling for its screenings of Head Start students; and
- The Victim Center, $6,000 to support its child/parent relationship therapy and sexually at-risk family programs.
The Ozarks Health Advocacy Foundation, which operates in Springfield under a volunteer board of directors and committee members, has distributed $1.4 million in grants to more than 90 nonprofits in its history, according to the release.
