In its latest round of grant funding, the Missouri Foundation for Health has awarded $300,000 to three Springfield nonprofits and more than $57,000 to a charity in Branson West.
The local grants are part of $5.1 million in grants approved for nonprofits statewide by the foundation's board of directors, according to a news release.
The grants are being provided through the Missouri Foundation for Health's Basic Support program, which funds operational expenses for health-related nonprofits' existing salaries, benefits, equipment and supplies.
Local award recipients are:
- Springfield-based The Kitchen Inc., $150,000 for medical and dental care assistance;
- Springfield-based Hand in Hand Ministries, $75,000 for mental health counseling and medical interpreter services for area families;
- Springfield-based National Alliance on Mental Illness of Southwest Missouri, $75,000 for mental health education for care providers and support group services for individuals and families dealing with mental illness; and
- Branson West-based Pregnancy LifeLine, $57,070 for counseling services for low-income pregnant women.
Since its 2000 inception, the St. Louis-based independent Missouri Foundation for Health has given more than $460 million in grants and awards to organizations in 84 counties and the city of St. Louis, the release said.
