Head Start programs get $10M infusion from billionaire couple

A philanthropic billionaire couple pledged up to $10 million to triage Head Start programs no longer operating due to the government shutdown, according to U.S. News.

Laura and John Arnold provided the money needed to reopen the seven Head Start programs in six states that were forced to close along with many government offices Oct. 1.

Head Start programs help young children from poor families prepare for kindergarten. More than 7,000 kids have been affected by the closures, the report said.
