Head of MIT Media Lab resigns over Epstein ties

The director of the research laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology resigned over ties to late financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Joichi Ito's resignation follows a New Yorker report alleging he continued to accept contributions from Epstein for the MIT Media Lab after the financier's alleged pedophilia became public in 2008.

Emails between Ito and Epstein show in 2014, for example, the MIT Media Lab director asking the financier to "top-off" an account by $100,000 to anonymously pay for the salary of a researcher.
