HBA presents industry awards

During its annual awards ceremony last week, the Home Builders Association of Greater Springfield announced its Builder Member of the Year, Associate Company of the Year and Associate Individual of the Year.

The organization selected Matt Bailey, owner of residential and commercial contractor The Bailey Co., as its Builder Member of the Year. Bailey, the current president of the local HBA's board of directors, was noted for work including reorganizing the association's government affairs committee into three separate advocacy committees, as well as adding new positions to the executive committee, according to a news release.

Tidwell Concrete Inc. was chosen as HBA Associate Company of the Year. The Springfield company was a participant in the 2012 HBA Home Show and the HBA Home Remodeling Expo, a featured member of the HBA website and an advertiser in organization's yearly event magazine. The release noted Tidwell also invested in the local HBA's nonpartisan political action committee - Coalition for Building a Better Tomorrow - and has committed to doing the same in 2013.

Debbie Speake, co-owner of residential electrical services company Springfield Electric LLC, was named HBA Associate Individual of the Year. During the year, Speake volunteered for the Home Show and Home Remodeling Expo, spending the week prior to the remodeling show assisting vendors set up for the expo. She also recently joined the board of directors for the HBA's charitable foundation.

Award recipients were honored during a Dec. 11 banquet at Bass Pro Shops' White River Conference Center, the release said.[[In-content Ad]]
