The Home Builders Association of Greater Springfield installed new members and officers to its board of directors at its Dec. 18 meeting. According to a news release from the HBA, the board includes builders, remodelers and associate members who are elected to serve two-year terms. Officers of the board are elected to serve one-year terms.
The following individuals were elected as officers for 2001: Ed Alden, president; Brett Godfrey, president-elect; Russel Caldwell, treasurer; and Kevin Clingan, secretary. Builders A.G. Paul and Linus Campbell were installed as new builder members of the board.
Kevin Scheer of Taylor Marble and Bob Whitlock of Meek's The Builder's Choice, were elected as new associate members of the board.
The Remodelors Council of the HBA of Greater Springfield, which includes remodeling contractors, suppliers and subcontractors that specialize in remodeling construction, elected Ron Murphy of Jim Murphy & Sons Construction, to serve a one-year term as council chairman.
In addition, Ed Alden, 2001 president of the HBA board and vice president of construction for Stenger Homes Inc., received the Builder Member of the Year award at the Dec. 18 meeting. According to a release from the HBA, the award is the highest form of recognition that HBA builder members can receive from their peers.
Stenger Homes joined the local HBA in 1991, and since that time Alden has participated in the annual Parade of Homes, worked on the strategic plan and served on various committees. Alden has been a member of the HBA board of directors since 1994.
