Though HBA awards have been given in the past, they had previously been distributed at the group’s Christmas banquet rather than at an exclusive event, said Matt Morrow, HBA executive officer.
“This is a volunteer organization that has such a significant, positive impact in our community and our local economy, and it’s based entirely on the efforts of members sacrificing their time and resources,” Morrow said. “This is just an opportunity for us to really thank them.”
Taking home individual member-of-the-year awards were Shannon Lee, owner of Rock Solid Construction, and Terry Speake of Beaman Electric.
Lee was given the honor as a builder member.
He is chair of HBA’s Remodelers Council and a member of the membership committee; he also participates in HBA’s home show and remodeling expo and volunteers for the organization.
Speake took the accolade as an associate member.
He volunteers with the organization and serves on its information and education committees.
Metro Builders Supply was named HBA Associate Company of the Year for its volunteer efforts and participation in the HBA’s annual home show and remodeling expo.
Metro also was one of the top three financial supporters of the organization and sponsors a number of its activities.
The HBA Individual Committee Member of the Year honor went to Carrie Parks with Waste Corporation of America, for her volunteer work at HBA events and her service on the home show committee.
Meeks The Builders Choice was named HBA Company Committee Member of the Year for its employees’ volunteer work on HBA committees, boards, councils and task forces.
Sam Bradley, Sam Bradley Homes and National Home Products were inducted into the HBA Hall of Fame.
