A ceremony will be held at 3:30 p.m., followed by tours of the building, 636 W. Republic Road, Bldg. D, until 7 p.m.
HBA purchased the building in October for $550,000 from Morelock-Ross Builders to accommodate its growing membership and services. While renovations were made, Liberty Bank provided the HBA temporary quarters at its 4021 S. Campbell Ave. building.
The 6,345-square-foot headquarters, which has a number of green features, has multiple meeting rooms, extra storage space and room for future additions to HBA’s five-member staff.
During construction, HBA officials estimate that recycling efforts led to 20 percent less waste than would typically be thrown away for a project of its size.
Cabinetry by four cabinetmakers – Armstrong, Kitchenland, Woodcraft and Alpine – is built with lower-emission glues and products. The cabinets are in HBA’s largest meeting room, which seats up to 30 conference-style or up to 60 classroom-style.
The lobby features eco-friendly paint, as well as granite treated with glaze and finish with minimal chemical emissions.
For its size, the building uses 30 percent fewer lights, according to HBA Executive Officer Matt Morrow, and most of those are energy-efficient bulbs. Other windows are treated not only to keep heat and light out, but also for privacy.
The new HBA facility and 24 homes are part of the HBA's 2007 Parade of Homes, which runs June 15–17 and June 22–24.
