Hawley opposes plan to remove Confederate names from military bases

Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Missouri, yesterday voted against a measure to remove Confederate names from military bases.

“I just don’t think that Congress mandating that these be renamed and attempting to erase that part of our history is a way that you deal with that history,” he said.

Hawley was the lone legislator to vote against Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren's plan in a Republican-led Senate panel.
