Harvard University named Claudine Gay as its 30th president.
Gay, dean of the school’s faculty of arts and sciences, is slated to take on the president role in July. She succeeds Lawrence Bacow, who announced this year he would step down after five years leading the university.
Gay will be the university's first Black leader.
