Haruno to bring its sushi downtown

Posted online
Haruno’s sushi is headed downtown.

Andrea Deckard of A. Deckard Interiors has sold her building, 306 S. Campbell Ave., for an undisclosed amount to JJ LLC, headed by Haruno Japanese Sushi Bar & Grill owner Young Sun Jung. JJ LLC was created July 12, and the deal closed July 19.

The new owners intend to open a second restaurant in the downtown space. Jung operates a sushi bar at 3044 S. Fremont.

Deckard’s 7,200-square-foot building was on the market for nearly nine months. It has an appraised value of $122,100, according to the Greene County assessor’s Web site.

“Downtown is ripe for development, and (Jung) wanted to develop this into a restaurant,” Deckard said. “The location is really good for that, especially with College Station coming in. We’re also going to be losing a lot of our parking, so it seemed like a good time to move on.”

Part of the pending $17 million College Station development will occupy a parking lot across Campbell.

Jung could not be reached for comment.

Skip Liebman of CJR Commercial Realtors brokered the sale.

Deckard is renovating a new location at 3058 S. Delaware, which she hopes to have ready for her three-person interior design team in the next few months.

Izumi Hatake, 302 E. Walnut, is the only sushi restaurant downtown.
