Harps buys nine Wal-Mart Express stores

Harps Food Stores Inc. this week announced it would acquire nine Wal-Mart Express stores from Bentonville, Ark.-based parent company Wal-Mart Stores Inc.
 
Of the nine stores acquired by the Springdale, Ark.-based private grocery chain, six are in Arkansas and three are in the Missouri towns of Anderson, Seligman and Noel.
 
The purchase price of the stores was undisclosed. The news comes roughly five months after Wal-Mart announced it would close 154 stores, including 102 Express locations.
