Harley-Davidson reported quarterly earnings of $68.2 million, a 40 percent drop from a year earlier.
The company's international sales were damaged by weak performance in Japan, Australia and Mexico, in addition to a drop in U.S. motorcycle sales.
"The continued weakness in the U.S. motorcycle industry only heightens our resolve and the intensity we are bringing to the quest to build the next generation of Harley-Davidson riders," CEO Matt Levatich said in a statement.
