Hancock denies whisper campaign, won't resign as GOP chairman

Posted online
John Hancock, the state's Republican Party chairman, on Thursday further denied that he conducted a whisper campaign about the late Missouri Auditor Tom Schweich's faith.

The remarks on KMOX mark the first public comment he's made since allegations his comments attributed to the suicide of Schweich, according to the St. Louis Business Journal.

Hancock said he has no plans to resign and intends to move forward with the party.

"Anti-semitism and bigotry have no place in this party," he said. "They have no place on this planet. It's clear there was no whisper campaign, and it's time to move on."
