The hotel will connect to the city’s planned new exhibition facility and will be walking distance from the Boise Centre on the Grove convention center. Hammons will own the hotel with partner Boise-based Oppenheimer Development Corp., and the property will be managed by Springfield-based John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts.
Construction of the hotel and adjoining exhibition facility is slated to begin in March 2008, with an anticipated opening in late summer 2009. Both will be situated on five-acre site near Boise State University, the Arts District, the State Capitol and the Boise Airport, as well as large facilities for Hewlett-Packard, Micron Technology and Super Value.
“Boise represents a prime opportunity with its state capital, well-skilled work force, solid government, Boise State University, numerous corporate headquarters and an influx of group business,” Hammons said in a news release. “We will provide a high-quality hotel and an exceptional guest experience to continue to drive business to this burgeoning area.”
Hammons’ announcement follows recent news of his intent to build a 10-story, 300-room Embassy Suites Hotel and adjoining convention center in Pleasant Grove, Utah. His previous developments have been largely concentrated in, but not limited to, the Eastern and Midwestern United States.
