Hammons spends $10M on hurricane repairs

Posted online
The Holiday Inn Beaumont Plaza and Convention Center, owned by Springfield-based John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts, has reopened its doors after seven months of repairs to damage caused by Hurricane Rita.

The Beaumont, Texas, hotel underwent $10 million in renovations following the September hurricane. The hotel’s restaurant, The Greenery, and atrium bar now are fully operational, and 156 of its 253 guest rooms are open.

The hurricane destroyed 80 percent of the hotel, including its sheetrock, carpeting, pool area, ceilings, windows and air-conditioning units. The renovated facility features contemporary furniture and a gold color scheme.

A grand reopening is planned for early summer, when all guestroom renovations will be complete.[[In-content Ad]]
