The 320-room Hammons property more than doubles the number of hotel rooms in Glendale, where the University of Phoenix will host next year’s professional football extravaganza. With an attached conference center and media center, the property has more than 100,000 gross square feet of meeting space.
John Q. Hammons owns the 12-story hotel and Hammons Hotels manages it, along with the conference center and media center. Hotel features include three presidential suites, outdoor and indoor swimming pools, fitness center, Soleil restaurant, Ray’s lobby lounge, Caffeina’s marketplace café and Spa Botanica.
The Arizona property is part of Hammons’ expansion into western states; earlier this year, he announced developments in Colorado, Idaho and Utah.
In other Hammons Hotels news, the company joined Flintco Constructive Solutions and officials from the city of Norman, Okla., last week to mark completion of the highest structural point of an Embassy Suites hotel expected to open in Oklahoma next fall.
The $50 million Hammons hotel and convention center will have more than 45,000 net square feet of meeting and exhibit space. It is under development near the University of Oklahoma in Norman as part of the 585-acre University North Park mixed-use project that will combine a retail lifestyle center, park space, office complexes and multifamily housing.
