Hammons’ Nebraska hotel opens with $4M on books

Springfield hotelier John Q. Hammons opened his new Embassy Suites near Omaha, Neb., with a bang on Friday, the Fourth of July.

The Embassy Suites Omaha/La Vista Hotel and Convention Center comprises seven stories and 257 suites, along with an adjacent conference center with 100,000 gross square feet of meeting space.

The property opened with $4 million in revenue for meetings and hotel room reservations already on the books for the center, which Hammons said “is an excellent indicator of the area’s potential.” John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts will manage the property.

The site boasts a central waterfall and a grand ballroom that can host banquets for up to 2,000 people.

“The winning combination of a high-quality facility, La Vista’s ideal location and the commitment of the mayor and city council to pursue future partnership with its corporate citizens will expedite the generation of … business,” Hammons said in a news release.

The hotel is Hammons’ third in Nebraska, including the 249-suite Embassy Suites Omaha Downtown and the 252-suite Embassy Suites Lincoln at the University of Nebraska. Hammons has built 203 hotels in his 50-year hospitality career.

The La Vista complex also includes Hammons’ 246-room Courtyard by Marriott, which is under construction and will be connected by a glass walkway to the conference center. That hotel is slated to open in spring 2009. [[In-content Ad]]
