More than 100 Oklahoma City and Hammons Hotels officials were on hand for a ceremonial ribbon-cutting for the six-story, 151-room Residence Inn by Marriott Oklahoma City Downtown/Bricktown, according to a company news release. The $22 million hotel is Hammons Hotels’ third in Oklahoma City and fifth in the state, including a hotel under construction in Norman.
Located on the Bricktown Canal, the hotel features two-bedroom, one-bedroom and studio suites, each with a living area and a full kitchen with a refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, sink and a cook top. Also in the hotel are a fitness center, tennis courts, whirlpool, two meeting rooms and a business center.
On March 21, Hammons Hotels broke ground for an Embassy Suites Hotel in Fairview, Texas. The 280-suite, 10-story property with an 80,000-square-foot adjoining conference center is the company’s eighth Texas development.
Construction work is set to begin in August and should be complete by January 2009, according to the release.
Hammons Hotels CEO John Q. Hammons will own the hotel, and the city of Fairview will own the convention center. Hammons Hotels will manage both.
Hammons Hotels officials said the Texas property will complement The Village at Fairview, a 400-acre lifestyle center that will have about 1 million square feet of retail, residential and office space. The Village, under development by The MGHerring Group, is expected to open in fall 2008.
“Fairview, McKinney and Allen are critical players in the north Texas economy,” Hammons said in the release. “As the highways, retail developments and neighborhoods near completion, tourists, business travelers and meetings and convention goers will become even more attracted to the area.”
