Hammons announces Utah hotel project

Springfield-based John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts LLC today announced plans to develop a 300-suite Embassy Suites Hotel and adjoining convention center in Pleasant Grove, Utah.

Construction of the John Q. Hammons-owned project is expected to begin next spring and is scheduled to open in first-quarter 2009. Hammons Hotels will manage the hotel and convention center.

The development will span 50 acres at the base of Mount Timapanogos and will be adjacent to a planned 1 million-square-foot lifestyle shopping center.

“The booming lower Provo Utah Valley needs quality accommodations to complement the growth experienced by Pleasant Grove and the adjacent cities of Orem and Provo,” Hammons said in a company news release. “The time is right to build a luxury, full-service facility, especially given the community’s burgeoning new retail and business developments in the area.”

The 10-story hotel will feature suites that each have a private bedroom, living room, two televisions, refrigerator, wet bar, microwave oven, coffee maker, two telephones with data ports, high-speed Internet access, work desk and an in-room safe.

Hotel amenities will include an open atrium, 24-hour room service, same-day dry cleaning, daily cooked-to-order breakfasts, fitness center, indoor pool, sundeck and spa treatments.

The 100,000-square-foot convention center will include a 38,000-square-foot ballroom and will seat 3,500 people. It also can be divided into 24 meeting rooms.

The project is Hammons’ first development in Utah.[[In-content Ad]]
