Hallmark to slash 200 jobs at KC headquarters

Posted online
Hallmark Cards Inc. is eliminating 200 jobs at its Kansas City headquarters through the implementation of its “voluntary transition program.”

The staff reduction is needed to cut costs in a changing marketplace, according to company officials, the Kansas City Business Journal reports.

Certain product-development employees will be eligible for the program, which includes outplacement assistance and a severance package. The program remains voluntary provided enough workers accept the buyout, but involuntary reductions will take place if that doesn’t work.

According to the Kansas City Business Journal, Hallmark employs 3,000 full-time and 170 part-time workers in Kansas City.
